American Digest Volume 08

When I was last writing it was very early morning on Wednesday 21st August, me and the rest of the guys were up and ready for the four hour road trip to Tampa visiting Busch Gardens. This was an absolute fantastic day from start to finish riding SheiKra, Kumba, SandSerpent, Stanley Falls Flume, and Cheetah Hunt amongst the other attractions. #buschgardens #thirllseeker #whatarush

I felt like a big kid at Christmas and really did enjoy reliving my youth. That evening we spent the night at Sailport Waterfront Suites on the beautiful coast of Tampa. We had dinner Lee Roy Selmon’s Sports Bar before all retiring to bed just before midnight. Then another early morning as we hit the road and headed to Universal Studios & Islands Of Adventures in Orlando. This again was another absolute fantastic day in one of the world’s best theme parks, this I would say was even more magical than Busch Gardens and it really feels like you’re involved in a story book. Here I got involved with all the best attractions including Incredible Hulk Coaster, The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter, Jurassic Park River Adventure, The Amazing Adventures Of Spider-Man and Dudley Do-Right’s Rip Saw Falls.

We got back to Miami a little before midnight on Thursday 22nd and all pretty much collapsed to bed after two fun packed but very tiring days. The next day I just relaxed by the swimming pool and played taxi driver for the rest of the guys who were going to either the casino or the beach. Then that evening Alex Rizek and Jake Cody invited Steve, Sam and I to dinner at Casa D’Angelo Ristorante which is a really nice and posh restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. The food, service and company were all exceptional here and it was great to meet and chat with Jake who by all accounts is a thoroughly nice guy.

We then went to the Royal Pig bar for a nightcap left the guys around 11:00pm, heading to the casino to play some cash but not long after arriving I started to feel sluggish and tired so clocked off pretty early and went back to bed for like 1:00am. Then I woke up and had this overwhelming feeling to get involved in 1C Seminole Hard Rock 2013 Poker Open Championship Event, so maybe a little foolishly I put up the $5,000 buy-in and took my seat. Things didn’t work out as I lost a big portion of my stack with a queen high flush vs. the nut flush then eventually piled ten big blinds with AKs and lost a race vs. TT.

After the tournament I played cash for a few hours until about 7:00pm before deciding to call it a day. I went food shopping with Sam to pick up some bits and bobs for the apartment before then heading back to relax for the evening and watch some television. Sunday 25th we had all agreed to head to Miami Zoo, so we were all up by midmorning and out the apartment for 10:00am on the road. This was a nice chilled out relaxing day, although we did get caught in the rain a little which damped things somewhat. But we kept our spirits high and visited a bunch of beautiful and interesting animals whilst also feeding the giraffes and birds which was for sure the highlight of the day. #miamizoo

After leaving the zoo we all headed back to the apartment and picked up a Chinese takeaway for dinner. This brings me to now, it’s like 8:00pm on Sunday evening and I’m contemplating whether or not to head to the casino and play some cash. For now, I’ll clock out and will check back in probably Thursday which will be my last day here in Miami before flying to Las Vegas for the month.
